Spornykov.com — A Motion Designer's Portfolio

Сайт-портфоліо моушн-дизайнера Spornykov.com — розробка Ageenko Web Studio

Spornykov.com — a motion designer's portfolio: animation, visual effects, and brand collaboration.

Task

A motion designer's portfolio consists of videos, and videos can be heavy. I needed to showcase my work in the best possible quality without making visitors wait.

What They Did

  • Submission of work with deferred loading of heavy content
  • a minimalist interface that doesn't interfere with the robots
  • Precise work at speed: a preview instead of the full video until you click
  • responsive for viewing on a phone

Details

When it comes to creative portfolios, the rule is: the website design should take a back seat—the work is what matters most.

What was taken into account in the niche

A motion designer’s portfolio faces an inherent conflict: the work consists of videos, and videos are heavy. A client who visits the website gives it just a few seconds. If nothing moves during that time, they’ll move on to the next designer without even seeing the work.

The second condition is that the website’s design should not compete with the work itself. In creative portfolios, anything that draws attention to itself rather than to the content works against the creator.

Site Structure

  • Portfolio — Projects by type: animation, Lottie, GIFs, and videos for brands.
  • About the Author — Keep it brief; no two-page biographies.
  • Brief and Contact Information — a clear path for the client who has already seen the work.

Technical Solutions

  • A light preview is displayed before you click; the full video loads only when needed—this is the project's key feature.
  • Deferred loading of heavy content: the first screen opens immediately, and the rest loads as you scroll.
  • A minimalist interface without unnecessary effects—a backdrop for your work, not a competitor to it.
  • English-language presentation: The author's audience is international.

What the client received

  • A portfolio that loads quickly despite its heavy video content.
  • The ability to add new works on your own.
  • A clear path from viewing the work to making an inquiry.
