Online Randomizer
Free randomizer: Select a winner for a drawing from a list of participants, generate a random number, or shuffle the list in random order. No registration required; the result appears right in your browser.
The result is generated in your browser by the generator crypto.getRandomValues — This is cryptographically secure randomness, not a simple pseudorandom function. The list of participants is not shared with anyone.
How to Run a Fair Raffle
The main problem with any giveaway is trust. Participants can’t see how you made your selection, and there will always be someone who says, “It’s all rigged.” Here are a few rules that address most of these concerns:
- Announce the rules in advance — When you're tallying the results, how many winners are there, and what should you do if a winner doesn't respond?
- Record your screen during the giveaway. The video, which shows the list and the moment the result is determined, addresses 90% questions. We intentionally added an animation of the selection process—it looks more convincing in the video than an instant result.
- Show the complete list of participants before pressing the button.
- Save the time and date — They are displayed below the result.
- Don't delete duplicates without saying anything. If the rules state that one participant equals one chance, turn on “Remove Duplicates” and announce it aloud.
Where Does Randomness Come From?
Most simple scripts use Math.random() — a fast pseudo-random function whose sequence is theoretically predictable. We take crypto.getRandomValues: the same generator used in cryptography.
Here’s another detail people don’t usually think about: if you simply take the remainder when you divide a random number by the number of participants, those at the top of the list will have a slightly better chance. We discard values that fall within the “incomplete tail” of the range—so everyone has an equal chance.
The list was shuffled using the Fisher–Yates algorithm: each possible order is equally likely.
What else can it be used for?
- Random number — a random draw, selecting from a numbered list, and game mechanics.
- Shuffle the list — the schedule of performances, the order of the teams, the assignment of tasks, and the weekly plan.
- Several winners at once — first, second, and third prizes in a single run, with no repeats.
Privacy
The list of participants is not sent to the server: everything is processed in your browser. This is important if you enter phone numbers, email addresses, or other personal data—under the “Personal Data Protection Act,” you are responsible for where you transmit that information.
