Why Count Characters?
- Title and description for Google. Longer titles are truncated in search results—and instead of a call to action, the user sees three dots. Recommended limits: 60 characters for the title, 160 for the description.
- Advertisement. In Google Ads and banner ads, the length is strictly limited.
- Social media. The first 125 characters of an Instagram caption are visible before the "More" button—that's where the most important information should be.
- Job Description for a Copywriter. Text length is usually specified in characters, excluding spaces.
How We Calculate
- Characters with spaces — everything in the field, including line breaks.
- No spaces — a standard for paying copywriters.
- Words — Any sequence without spaces; therefore, “1500 UAH” counts as two words.
- Sentence — after a period, a question mark, and an exclamation point.
- Time for Reading Aloud — Based on 150 words per minute, this is a relaxed pace for a news anchor.
